Silver coin 200 CZK First Prague Defenestration 600th anniversary 2019 Proof

On July 24, 2019, the Czech National Bank is issuing a commemorative silver two-hundred-crown coin to mark the 600th anniversary of the first defenestration of Prague. The two-hundred-crown coin is minted from an alloy containing 925 parts silver and 75 parts copper and is issued in two versions, regular and proof, which differ in surface finish and edge design. In the case of top-quality coins, the field of the coin is highly polished and the relief is matted, the edge is smooth with the inscription "ČESKÁ NÁRODNÍ BANKA * Ag 0.925 * 13 g *". Regular-quality coins have a serrated edge. The diameter of the coin is 31 mm, the weight is 13 g and the thickness is 2.3 mm. As with every coin minting, deviations of 0.1 mm in diameter and 0.15 mm in thickness are allowed for these coins. The weight is allowed to vary by up to 0.26 g and the silver content by up to 1%. The obverse of the two-hundred-crown coin depicts a crowd of people leaving the Church of Our Lady of the Snows in Prague. The name of the state “CZECH REPUBLIC” and the denomination with the abbreviation of the monetary unit “200 CZK” are placed in a ring around the circumference of the coin. The mark of the Czech Mint, consisting of the letters “Č” and “M”, is placed behind the abbreviation of the monetary unit. The reverse of the two-hundred-crown coin depicts the act of defenestration itself. The text “PRVNÍ PRAŽSKÁ DEFENESTRACE” and the dates “1419 – 2019” are placed in a ring around the circumference of the coin. The initials of the coin’s designer, academic sculptor Majka Wichnerová, which are formed by a composition of the letters “M” and “W”, are placed under the lower left window. Each coin is accompanied by a gray catalog card, which contains a description of the coin and its plastic image.
